I came across this site in a social media blog post the other day. It sounds a bit wacky and farfetched, the social media stockmarket… But having just started up #BinaryOptions trading at KrakatoaTrade , I’m well keen on stock exchanges at the moment. As a complete social media junkie, this Empire Avenue site seemed perfect. I signed up straight away. The basic account is free. It links up many of your social networks to give you a score and keep track on your activity there. The currency of Empire Avenue is eaves. It is a pretend currency and has no retail value so you won’t be becoming a millionaire overnight. You get a mass of eaves to kick you off and with this cash you can buy stock in other users. Everyone’s stock price is different. At first, I didn’t think much of the stock market system. The site is to help you get on with social media, just as much as it is about trading. However, as soon as I got my first few investors I got hooked. When someone purchases shares in you, a lump sum of eaves is deposited into your account. Your share value increases, and more often than not, the investor leaves a shoutout for you on your profile. I started using my extra eaves to invest back a little in others. It’s great builiding up a portfolio of people you’ve invested in. Every day you get a dividend on your investments so it’s all worthwhile. What else do Eaves do? You can assign missions for others to help you out on the social networks. Retweeting maybe, liking a facebook post, reading your blog, sharing something, whatever. You create the mission and pay people in eaves for completing it. By doing missions yourself, you also gain extra eaves. Also, there is a community section which is really decent. I quickly signed up to the DJ group and started posting all my usual DJ mix websites and links in there. There are communities for lots of special interests. I couldn’t find a Soundcloud or Mixcloud community so I set them both up myself. These will hopefully draw in more people into the Wez G listenership. After a couple of days on the site, I’m ranking in the top 10 of site newbies. I have over 200 investors and a portfolio of over 160 different people. The good…
I spent a hectic three days at the end of last week rebuilding my main website. The old one looked rather dated and was a bit of a nightmare to update. It didn’t perform particularly well SEO wise and was clunky and slow to load. I decided to abandon the use of html and css and transfer the new site to a streamlined wordpress format. I used what data I could from the old site and tried to emphasise my music in the new one, with it heavily drawing from my rather active Soundcloud account. In the new site, photos and videos are available, there is a portfolio section, lots of music, categorised by type (DJ Sets, production, remixes) and genre (house, chillout, drum & bass). I encourage website viewers to participate with me on the social networks, with lots of twitter and facebook boxes and share buttons and also links to the many social networks available. The blog section has allowed me to combine my previous wordpress news blog with my old google blogger one and I might even drag in all the tumblr posts I’ve done too. I plan to post new blogs primarily directly in the site so my other blogs (including this one) are likely to become a bit neglected. Fans of the new website can sign up for updates via email. All in all, I’m satisfied with the work and the new site is looking rather sparkly. I hope you take the time to check it out http://djwezg.com
Well – Twitter seems more popular these days than even facebook for the dance music industry… I’m on it here http://twitter.com/wezg There are new features these days on twitter and one of the best ways to develop a following and streamline your tweets to read only specific people’s tweets – is to create and maintain twitter lists… Takes a bit of effort but is well worth it… Here are a few I’ve created … Reading the list tweets is like a condensed form of old Mixmag or DJ Magazine for the new digital age… Just minus the journalists and coming direct from the artists themselves. http://twitter.com/wezg/producers http://twitter.com/wezg/record-labels http://twitter.com/wezg/djs http://twitter.com/wezg/djs2 Enjoy – you are free to follow any twitter lists and if you follow me and fall into any of the list categories, chances are you’ll be listed in them and will hence be picking up loads of nice twitter followers from dance music across the world.
I have set up this wordpress blog for a number of reasons… Firstly there is a possibility that I will convert the main http://djwezg.com website over to a pure wordpress style layout… So I want to give it a good test. And secondly – I need a unique news feed for the new Wez G Iphone / Ipad app that will be released in mid May. This will be where news and content for the app comes from. There will be lots of other features also. There are also other sites that I use regularly to share information. Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Blogger and Podomatic all have their uses in today’s hi-tech digital world. All can be seen plus a lot more on the main website http://djwezg.com I shall endeavour to keep you posted with interesting items from the Perpetual World of Delight that is Shuffle…. Wez G
